WER BIN ICH?

Hi! 🙋🏾‍♂️I’m Alex, I am a Black, queer, trans, disabled, drag, and burlesque performer. Transgender is a broad term that can be used to describe people whose gender identity is different from the gender they were assigned at birth. I was 4 years old when I started praying that God would make me look like someone else and 15 when I was ejected from my home to raise myself, I became a single parent at age 18, diagnosed with cancer in 2017, and learned to walk again in 2018. Growing up as a queer black in an all white, ultra religious household, I didn’t have any role models that looked like me as a child, which left me feeling alone and lost almost every-time I looked at tv or opened a magazine. From television to fashion magazines, The assumption of brands more than likely, was that Black youth like me could identify with these mainstream models. They were wrong. Historically, attempts to promote diversity in the entertainment and fashion industries prioritize voices and bodies that are palatable to White consumers and it can be a challenging conversation for an industry that has been more-or-less built on selling exclusivity. I am here to to help implement change by working hard to promote inclusivity and uplift black and brown role models on a global level and bring more diverse voices to the tables where decisions are being made. I am a cast member of the premiere Drag King Troupe Dragged Out, a winner of several crowns and titles, a single parent, and have performed at pretty much every drag and/or burlesque venue in the Twin Cities, MN. More recently, I am the founder of Queer Fam Brigade, a non for profit organization providing aid for BIPOC, queer and trans folx currently and during the Minneapolis uprising. I was on the frontlines from day one of the George Floyd murder and documented the terror on live video. I am the creator of the Rainbow Gathering show. This show is a covid concise 2 day drag and burlesque extravaganza who’s goal is to uplift, connect and empower black creatives in the Minneapolis area and abroad.

WAS DENKE ICH ÜBER DIE FASHION HERO TV-SERIE?

As concerns about the experience and achievements of Black and brown bodies in the world continues to publicly grow , (especially Black transgender and GNC bodies) The call for more Black, Brown and Trans people to serve as mentors and role models is being heard louder than ever. The Fashion Hero offers a platform that aims to bring and promote inclusivity in todays entertainment industry. We live in a world full of discrimination and hate, going from homophobia to racism to transphobia and people who are sexist. The Fashion Hero is a breath of fresh air where everyone has an equal chance regardless of age, race, gender ability or disability. Trans people in the mainstream media don’t only have the power to change the way the public see’s trans people, but they also have the power to change the way trans people see themselves this is one of the greatest gifts The Fashion Hero can offer the world. Thank You.

WARUM WÄRE ICH EIN TOLLES VORBILD FÜR DIE HEUTIGE GENERATION UND WÜRDE MENSCHEN ALS DAS NEUE GESICHT VON THE FASHION HERO INSPIRIEREN?

There’s A Role Model Gap For Black and Brown people And We Need To start Talking About It. My personal journey with my own beauty and self worth has been long and hard yet extremely rewarding. I believe in sharing what I have and am learning with other people of color who want to take part in the entertainment industry. Over the last 10 years, I have had the opportunity to network with upbeat, optimistic individuals from all over the world who share the same high moral values as I do. People who practice what they preach and combine it with hard work, commitment, and perseverance. Utilizing this network of individual and pooled resources to create fund-raising projects that pull everyone together in a constructive manner has been a powerful tool in the inclusivity movement. I want this and future generations to have hope and to see positive role models in the mainstream that they can identify with. As The Fashion Hero, I would embrace people regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, ability or disability. My core goal in life is to inspire, uplift and motivate people. I don't see people for their flaws, I see people for their possibilities.
