It was through my discovery of the importance of self-love, empowerment, and continuing to keep a positive attitude, that helped me to heal from the difficult experiences that I had faced in the past. I have been inspired by other wonderful beings who share their knowledge about self-love; and I have incorporated my own practices which have allowed me to be my best self and lead a healthy lifestyle. Being your best self is my definition of what true beauty is.

My name is Andromeda. Isn't it obvious that my parents wanted me to be different? I am your Miss District of Columbia United States 2015! I have learned so many lessons in life and have had quite an interesting journey to say the least. I am at a point where although I am still learning, my life is absolutely beautiful. I am seeing my dreams come true right before my eyes, and I aspire to do so much more. I was born in Western Massachusetts. I landed in Maryland with loved ones after losing stable housing when I was still in college. With the help of my amazing partner, great friends, and other supportive family, I received tremendous support. I had been able to secure stable housing. I have also been able to take advantage of career opportunities in my professional field as a social worker in Washington DC where there is such a need. I have been able to pursue other passions of mine as well! I am devoted to service work to provide support and resources for the homeless and mentorship through my non-profit APPLY (A Pageant Place Leading Youth) which I co-founded with my mother. We believe that pageants can help build and rebuild one's self-esteem like it did for me, so we provide funding for children who wish to compete in pageants through MUSO who are from low-income families. It was through my past experiences that I realized how important self care is, and I began to work towards being my best self.
