My name is Vanessa Giddings and I am 24 years old. I am originally from the west part of Africa in Liberia. Fashion and modelling have always been a dream of mine that I believe will come true. Apart from dancing, singing and making new friends I believe that I do have a creative mind and I push towards making my dreams a reality in all I do. I remember when I was young I would watch all the modelling shows that I could come across and even practise walking on the runway, showcasing my own design to the world. I focus on promoting culture and diversity in most of my designs, trying to combine the latest western style with a little bit of Liberian fabric is what I am into. Just recently I was able to participate in a beauty pageant in my community here in Monrovia, Liberia. I may have not won the pageant but through it I was able to build my confidence and gain a lot of knowledge on what to do and what not to do. I didn’t stop there. I believe that if I keep pushing and not give up I will be able to see my dream succeed.

From my perspective, Fashion Hero Tv series is like a dream becoming a reality for many people around the world, including myself. It is an opportunity to showcase your talents, your ideas and your skills to the world through their unique platform and even becoming an inspiration to others. It is a place to steer your visions and dreams and using the skills provided to you to bring your dreams to life.

I would like to encourage my peers around me that it is possible to be what you want to be. I have witnessed a lot of young adults, even some who are close to me giving up on their dreams and their inspirations simply because of the circumstances they find themselves in. Just applying for the Fashion Hero has come as a source of inspiration for people around me, just taking that bold step to apply has already inspired my fellow friends and family and I believe that there is more to come. your past does not define your future.
