Who am I?

I am a 36 year old flight attendant and step mother of two beautiful girls. I consider myself a WICKED (awesome) STEPMOTHER because I try to be as silly and have as much fun with my girls as humanly possible. I still believe in MAGIC and want to pass that mentality onto them. Imagination is everything, and I try to encourage creativity and self expression in our every day activities; we play dress up and have impromptu fashion shows, livingroom dance parties are a weekly occcurence, crafting takes us to our happy place and make believe is a part of our daily ritual. Maybe I have a bit of Peter Pan Syndrome, but I don’t ever want to grow up... after all, you’re only as old as you feel.

What do I think about A New Kind of Beautiful TV series Presented by The Fashion Hero TV series?

When I saw the show, I immediately knew I had to put in for it. All my life I have been told that to be a successful ANYTHING I had to be more of this and less of that. I have always been a curvier girl. I love my figure, but, until recently, society has put a negative light on anyone who doesn’t look a certain way or act a certain way. I think this show is a step in the most perfect direction with body acceptance and self love. It took me 36 years to realize I am beautiful just the way I am, it shouldn’t have taken that long. The Fashion Hero is the ultimate barrier breaking and boundary crossing show that will show people, young and old that they are beautiful, they are magnificent and they are special JUST AS THEY ARE.

Why would I be a great role model for this generation and inspire people as the new face of A New Kind Of Beautiful TV series Presented by The Fashion Hero?

Growing up I always wanted to be a model and actress. Being on stage was my biggest passion, but I was always told I was too big or too small, too short or too tall, too this or too that, and I never was able to fit inside the box the entertainment industry wanted me to be in. My dreams were crushed, and eventually I just accepted that I would never be “good enough” to “make it.” I shifted my sails in another direction, and pursued other passions instead, folding my dreams of being a model and actress into my own little box, tucked neatly under my bed. Now, at 36, I have two beautiful step daughters with dreams of their own. I tell the girls, you can do or be anything you want to, as long as you have a burning in your belly and work REALLY hard. Being a parent has taught me that in order to be a good role model for my children, I have to live what I speak. I don’t want my daughters (or any other children with big dreams) to face the same adversity I faced and just give up because someone tells them they can’t. Instead, I want them to look them in they eye and say, “Yes I can, and I will,” and prove the naysayers wrong. So, I’m pulling out that dusty box of dreams, and going to show my girls that YOU NEVER GIVE UP, no matter how old you are, no matter where life takes you and especially no matter what anyone says. If you can dream it, you can do it.
