I am a person first, a woman second, a self employed seamstress, a mother and a wife, and I’ve been living in Japan since 2009. I’m Japanese American, and I’m living as an immigrant in my ancestral home.

The fashion industry only includes what they think what will sell and lacks diversity, limits size ranges, uses stereotypes, and only shows able bodies. This TV show breaks away from commercial beauty standards, and it’s making fashion more accessible! Because mostly no one looks like a photoshopped model on the cover of Vogue. We need more Dove models to represent us.

I believe that in today's world, people are looking for more than just a pretty face when it comes to models. They want to connect with someone who embodies their values, someone who has a story to tell and a life that they can relate to. As a model, I would embrace this opportunity to be more than just a face, but also a role model. I would use my platform to inspire others and advocate for the things I believe in. For me, dressing up and wearing makeup is not about pleasing others, but about expressing myself and feeling confident in my own skin. As a mother and a business owner, I understand the importance of balancing different roles and responsibilities. I know firsthand the challenges of juggling personal and professional life, and I would use my experiences to support and empower other women who are going through similar situations. Leaving my country to reconnect with my Japanese heritage was a bold and transformative decision for me. It allowed me to learn a new language, immerse myself in a different culture, and expand my horizons. Being in unfamiliar situations has taught me to be adaptable and quick on my feet. I have become skilled at improvising socially, which has helped me navigate through various circumstances with ease. In summary, if given the opportunity, I would not only be a model but also a role model. I would use my platform to promote self-expression, inspire others, and advocate for the things that matter to me. I would bring my unique experiences as a mother, a business owner, and someone who has embraced different cultures to create a positive impact in the fashion industry and beyond.
