My name is Chidere Igwe. I am a Nigerian professional living in Atlanta. I was raised in NJ so i see myself as a cross between Igbo(my tribe) babe and Jersey Girl! I work in public relations, but currently going through a career transition. I would love to try fashion modeling because i enjoy taking beautiful pictures to post on Instagram. I feel modeling would come natural to me.
I think it’s a great idea. I have always felt, as a thicker woman, that modeling wouldn’t be for me. But i love modeling’s new body positive approach. Everyone should accept the way they look, but it may start by people seeing others who look like them in the media.
I am beautiful, inside and out! It started with this self-loving proclamation i made facing myself in the mirror when I was 14 years old. I was always taller than my class and chubbier than my peers. I had a deeper voice than the girls. I never wore the latest fashion. I was shy and insecure growing up, but I actively changed that for myself. I realized what people thought of me didn’t matter at all. Other people’s opinions don’t matter. I liked better my FACTS about myself when I stared straight in my eyes looking in the mirror. I would be a great role model, because I am all about self-love and self-care. I truly believe when you speak positivity unto yourself, that’s the exact way you begin to exist.
