I think it is about time that we change the stereotypes of beauty and of who deserves to wear what in fashion. Fashion is consumed by the masses, so why is it displayed on only the select few, who don't look anything at all like the multitudes of people who are the actual customers? Why should people, especially women, who are working hard every day, leading otherwise fulfilling lives and deserve to feel good about themselves - be made to feel fat or short or too-tall or inadequate by shoving photo shopped and colour corrected models in their faces day in and day out? It's time to make fashion democratic. It's time to stop feeling ashamed for being natural. It's time to take back our style, take back our self worth, and make US beautiful, not THEM.
I am an Indian woman who was born and brought up in a conservative country by very modern and unconventional army officer parents, who taught me to express myself as I see fit, without worrying about what people would think or what society expects me to be. As a result, I went from Tomboy phase to fat teenager phase to crazy exercise stage to traditionally beautiful to bald headed chick to what I am today: Having tried and tested every norm and lived by my own rules, I am now comfortable in my skin. I am healthy, take care of myself, spiritual and a positive, lively, hard working woman who is confident and would love to have a stage to make everyone realize the importance of their natural beauty and to take care of themselves first and what others think later. I am an Indian woman living in Germany, a dentist working in Technology, an anime lover learning to speak German, I embrace different cultures and find the best in everything, and I am adaptable. I know that confidence and a good , uplifting spirit are what make you look beautiful no matter what size, age, shape, gender, skin colour or height you are.
