My name is Jazinae Patterson, I am 24 for years old from Minneapolis, MN. I recently relocated to Dallas, TX. I love to read, write, workout and spend time with friends. When I moved here to Dallas, I decided to tackle my fears and start taking modeling and acting more seriously. I've enjoyed my experience so far even though I've only been taking classes through John Casablancas in hopes to be signed after I graduate from the program. I am excited to finally have the courage to venture this journey.

I think this is an amazing opportunity to shift the narrative of beauty in the world. An opportunity for others to see themselves represented in mass media as beautiful and perfect the way they are.

When I was growing up, I didn't see any natural Black Women seen as beautiful in the public eye. It was always skinny white women or if there was a Black Women being shown, she fit European standard of beauty aside from her skin complexion. I began to subconsciously hate myself, why wasn't I considered beautiful? Then I started to see Black features on non-black bodies and watched how they received praise for it while others who were born naturally with these same exact features were made a mockery, called ugly or ridiculed for what came naturally. It was frustrating and disheartening. I want to be an example for myself and many other young Black Women and girls that come after me and may even already look up to me.
