The fashion industry sets impossible standards for what is considered beautiful and we all have, at one time or another, fallen victim in trying to attain these unrealistic social constructs of perfection. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities. Although part aesthetic, true beauty encompasses so much more than just the superficial. It it a combination of our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It reflects who we are as a person. Beauty is all around us and potential exists within each and every one of us to be truly beautiful. This is good news, as our looks eventually fade due to age, illness, and/or disability. As we grow and learn to embrace ourselves (imperfections included) our inner light will shine, whereby giving permission for others to do the same.
