I am a 61 year old woman who has lived through a disfunctional childhood ( alcohol), abusive relationships, anorexia, body image problems etc. then 10 yrs ago I list my son suddenly, then six weeks prior and after I lost my sister, brother, father, mother-in Law( mom) and best friend. Due to stress, I became severely disabled ( barely moved) due to Rheumatoid Desease. I’ve worked hard to maneuver the grief and issues with my desease to find laughter , hope and meaning in my life. I now help other parents who have lost children. My family including grandchildren, say I am “cool” and my laughter and love for life inspires all. I’m now after 61 proud of who I am even though the “demons ” of my past ( Lack of self worth/ esteem) still creep in and try to consume me. My new found “living like there is no tomorrow”, and, “feel the love and peace in every moment” , makes my life worth living and filled with sunshine! Who would ever think “I “ would feel this way????
I h as ve to be honest and say I have not as of yet watched an episode.I just watched A J McLean on CTV Your Morning doing an interview about the show. I was so impressed and inspired that I directly went to your site to apply as I feel “I could be a role model” for many ages
I believe I would be a great role model for this generation because I have endured, still living with and overcome many obstacles and yet I somehow find strength in moving forward to help others through laughter and compassion. Not always easy after you lose a child.
