I am an aspiring actress and Disability rights activist. I have been a wheelchair-user since I was fourteen but I love myself just the way that I am and honestly wouldn’t change a thing. I may not look like everyone else, but I think that I am beautiful – I love my scars and my curled fingers and legs because they make me who I am. I would describe myself as joyful, determined, and fearless. I can do everything that everyone else can do – I just do things differently. I’ve found different creative ways to do things like drawing and writing with a pen in my mouth and by doing that I’ve taught myself to be independent. Pride in my Disability is something that I’m very passionate about and something I hope to share with the world.
I think that the Fashion Hero TV series is an amazing show which helps true beauty to shine rather than society’s perfect perception of beauty. It feels amazing to have a TV show that prioritises real people, diversity, and encouraging people to love themselves just the way that they are. It would be an honour to be a part of it.
I think that I’d be a great role model because I show people that you can love yourself regardless of ability. We need more Disabled role models to prove that there is so much power, strength, and beauty in being different – even if it means that you can’t do the same as everyone else. When I was younger, I was made to believe that my Disability was something to be ashamed of, that I could never love myself for who I am because of it. It’s been a long and hard journey but I feel as if I’m finally starting to believe in myself and in my own natural beauty again and would love to share that. I am young but also determined, hard-working, and committed to making a difference.
