Who am I?

Hi everyone, my name is Takakwita James. My family and friends call me Taka for short, which means coconut in our language. I am from Chuuk, one of the beautiful Federated States of Micronesia in the Pacific. I moved to Guam in 1994 and it has been a great home to me and my family since then by giving us better education, jobs, and other opportunities. Moving to Guam gave me the opportunity to meet new people and also learn and love the culture. I am a mother of a beautiful 8 year old, and I always strive to be the best role model I can be for her. I am currently a Restaurant General Manager at one of the fast foods here on Guam. I love to sing and dance, but most of all, I love to inspire others to always strive to be their best in whatever they try to achieve. Although I am not a model, I love taking pictures of others and myself as a hobby. I hope to always be able to touch other people's lives in a positive way.

What do I think about The Fashion Hero TV Series?

I believe that The Fashion Hero is a life saver for many. Not only does it save lives for the contestants, but to also all the audience it reaches. It is a life saver by being a game changer for many, especially those that do not believe in themselves. The awesome thing about it is that it provides a great story and meaning that everyone can relate to. I believe it is a great way to provide opportunity to those that never thought they can achieve big things in life. To some, it may just seem like another tv show, but to many, it is a blessing.

Why would I be a great role model for this generation and inspire people as the new face of the Fashion Hero?

I would be a great role model for this generation, because I believe that a lot of people can relate to me. Just like most, I always face fears, self doubts, and low self esteem. Especially where I come from, there are a lot of people who are very talented and skilled, but still don't believe in themselves. Most believe that they are not good enough. There are situations that sometimes make me feel that I should just give up or not to even try to start a journey. But this is exactly what I want to inspire many others to believe. That through all challenges, we can do it if we put our minds and hearts to it. I also come from a very big family where we struggle everyday to be able to get by. I believe that I can inspire people as the new face of The Fashion Hero, because no matter how hard life may be, I always try my best to live by my rule called the 20 by 80 Rule (20/80). Here is a quote I wrote, "Do not focus on the 80% that LOOK AT YOU. Instead, focus on the 20% that LOOK UP TO YOU." To me, no matter what struggles we face in life, we should always remember those that look up to us. Whether you know them or not. This, I believe, would help each and everyone of us always strive to be the greatest we can be.
