Hey, loves. I'm Zakiyyah. Black. Queer. Chunky. My general existence is a revolutionary act. I'm an ex-corporate serial entrepreneur. I enjoy getting tatted and having conversations in rap lyrics. Helping folks create legacies is my super power. I'm currently committed to only doing things that set my soul on fire.
I am a huge proponent of normalizing differences and diversity. The Fashion Hero has been able achieve this without "othering" or being exploitative. It's necessary for media like this to exist.
Representation matters for everyone. I represent girls that have rolls, dents and FUPAs and loves that sh*t. I spent my early years taking drastic measures to be someone that other people found lovable and generally acceptable. I measured my worthiness by numbers on scales and dress sizes. If I were ever able to see someone that looks like me celebrated instead of being the joke, funny sidekick or DUFF ( dumb ugly fat friend), I would have saved myself and my family a lot of grief and hella money on therapy.
